Summer Plum

One down, 2,545 to go.

New vow to finish old sewing projects (heaped up and tucked away) before beginning anything new. This dress was something I made about 5 years ago of sanded rayon with a metallic sleeve - sort of “everyday faire wear”. Not only was the metallic fabric scratchy, but the dry-cleaning process ruined it, so I replaced with leftover fabric, added bits of plum velvet + trim I had on hand.

Amethyst Cross necklace by Parrish Relics.

  3. Simply beautiful. I, for one, would love to wear this everyday. Imagine the looks one would get wearing it in the produce department. :)

  15. Hi MM, I am not sure if I actually mentioned this yet or not, this is Laurie Ann Haus from LJ. Sorry if I wrote this twice on your journal. I hope to create this journal to be purely about art, music and creativity. Need an outlet like this. I look forward to connecting with you again. I am tossing up between LJ and this. Most likely this one will win out in the end?

  16. err the second part of that post didn't show.

Anyways, I am amazed by this dress. This is so freaking beautiful. It makes me wish I had enough money and time to commission you to do a wedding dress for me.

Welcome!!! Good to see you here. Blogger is a very good choice for exchanging visual and audio delights. For some reason, I cannot follow you back - perhaps because you've not done an initial post?

Would love to make you something sometime!

  18. OMG!! This dress is absolutely stunning!!! I just attended our local medieval festival (not in costume) and I've vowed by the next one (every second year) I'm going to have a beautiful dress. Perhaps you will create another for sale? :)

  19. Lori - Thanks for all your compliments. This was made using a commercial pattern as a "base" and customizing a bit. I think it is McCalls and was a Mists of Avalon-inspired line from years ago.

And you are right, such events are more fun if you go in garb!!! I hope you'll share your future projects.
