Back to my medieval roots

Where does the time go? After an unintentional lull, I'm back to full-on medieval costuming projects and inspirations. This from The Lion in Winter, a Hallmark production with Glenn Close and Patrick Stewart. Love the authentic feel of the scenery and background characters, set in a wintery landscape during Christmas, 1183 - probably my favorite century for clothing.

    She really was - both regal and sarcastic, she and Patrick Stewart make perfect medieval monarchs and rivals. And the bonus is a much-younger Jonathan Rhys-Myers as Prince Phillip.

    The costumes really are beautiful. Who doesn't love that period! I first fell in love with the Middle Ages as a little girl after watching Errol Flynn's 1938 Robin Hood. Of course, the costumes definitely had their anachronistic touches, but I got the general idea!

    Isn't it fun to watch old Hollywood movies because the "costumes" seemed to always reflect the glamour of the time. Even Camelot, the musical with Richard Harris, was spectacular.
