Beyond the pale

During a recent re-watch of The French Lieutenant's Woman, I was struck by the resemblance of Meryl Streep to Lizzie Siddal. Both the visual and emotional tone have an undeniable Pre-Raphaelite theme. I'm sure I'm not the first to make this observation! Lovely movie!

    Great book and I've been to where it was filmed but you're right about her look being based on Lizzie. Well spotted.

    That was a good movie...everyone seems to recommend the book so another to my list..yes the resemblance is amazing... :)
