Queen Mab's Malady

This morning, I'm off to take Mab to a specialist at the School of Veterinary Medicine to hopefully shed light on months of illness. Her regular vet has treated her but the problem persists. Hoping and praying it is nothing serious and can be remedied. I'm prepared to move heaven and earth to make her well.

Fairytale dreams

All photos were taken by me on two different visits to Hammond Castle, Gloucester, MA.
Taken during the King Arthur Fair (2006) escaping the rain in the Parrish Relics booth!

Gotta love those “eccentric” millionaires!

Robin Hood extras

Robin Hood was released to DVD this Tuesday, so of course I rushed out to buy it, curious about the director's cut. The extra scenes are amazing! and I cannot believe they were cut from the theatrical version. Love, love this movie and the soundtrack. Please let there be a sequel.

Dorian Gray and PRB

A big thank you to dear friend Robin over at Passing Fancies alerting me to the fact that Dorian Gray was finally available on Netflix!

Tons of Pre-Raphaelite references/visuals; Sybil Vane's portrayal of Ophelia in the theatre, to her lovely long red hair and ivory skin;  Leighton's God Speed in her dressing room. Yes, I know, the novel pre-dates the painting by a decade, but still it works for the visual tone of the movie. Perhaps that was the director's nod to Oscar Wilde? I suppose we have to make allowances for the art of storytelling and if I had a dime for every time one of the unicorn tapestries appears in an early "medieval" movie, I'd be a wealthy woman.

Judging the book by its cover

Picked this up at a recent tent sale. Even though the title is Twlight of Avalon, the story is Tristan & Isolde. So far, kind of derivative of Mists of Avalon sans the magic, but I remain hopeful.

Speaking of books...the fantastic work of H.J. Ford.

Snuggle bugs

My lovely Queen Mab gave me quite a fright yesterday - an emergency vet visit was the order of the day. Relieved that she is much better and on the road to recovery!

Her brother, Frick, reclining below, is very glad she is home.

How I love them:)
