One Fine Knight

I seem to be on a “Purejoy” kick having watched James Purefoy in quite a few movies lately from over-the-top violent to light-hearted and charming. In all cases, this man does wonderful things for a Templar’s tunic and chainmail. Behold!

As Marshal, brooding  in Ironclad
As King Lot in Camelot.

My favorite - Colville in A Knight's Tale.

As George in George and the Dragon

One of my favorite dress/cloak combs in my movie-viewing history!

  1. I've never seen one actor cast in so many different medieval-type chain mail parts! LOL! But he does were it well ;)

  3. Hmmmmm. . . .I may have to do some investigation about these movies. . . .And speaking of, I ordered the Lady of Shalot tape you aimed us toward, and my friend and I watched it. So delightful! Thanks for the heads up on that one.

  5. I don't think George and the Dragon ever reached Denmark - a pitty. But I see potential for some cool medieval groom's outfits in those movies :D

  6. Cecilie - I'd guess that George and the Dragon was an American production as the late Patrick Swayze was in it - eating licorice sticks!!! I kid you not. From that, you can guess how silly it was, but still very entertaining.

  7. About George and the Dragon... I've always seen it titled as "Dragonsword." I'm always trying to dvr it and FINALLY I got to last week. It's one of my favorite movies. It sort of has a 'Princess Bride' feel to it. LOVE it! He's so handsome in that movie.

Loved him in A Knight's Tale, too. That was the first thing I've ever seen him in. I haven't seen many of his flicks yet but will definitely be remedying that. He's a keeper!

  8. Kristin - YES, I found it very much like Princess Bride. He was also in Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon - didn't include it in this thematic post, but a pleasure to watch. I'll warn you that IronClad is graphically violent! I think most critics referred to it as a gore-fest.

  11. Jeri - he is and I've that show yet to watch. From what I've heard, we get to see a lot of him in Rome:)

  12. Jeri - and he was in Solomon Kane, which I''ve yet to see as it doesn't appear to have been released here in the US. No luck on Netflix either:(

  13. He is a great actor! And just has that medieval look to him.

I like that medieval dress and cloak, and even more so the medieval maiden wearing them :)

  15. Hahaha. "Visual Custody." I like that!

That's how I feel about Scots actor Gerry Butler. I have to share him with so many ladies. Sigh...

  17. You ladies should see him in Vanity Fair. The visuals alone are worthy while (and I'm talking about the costumes, not the actor ;-P)

  18. Juan - Oh, I have that movie too! All the costumes are so very lovely,
