Earthly delights

Early evening walk - a certain slant of light, shades of glorious green, honeysuckle in the air.

  1. Lovely to walk with you... and what wonderful BLUE bird at the end. Things here are still just beginning... but down the hill a little bit, lilacs are blooming.

  3. Beautiful pictures - in sharp contrast to life here in New Zealand, with trees on fire with autumn hues and mushrooms poking up beneath the trees. Enjoy the warmth and the color!

  4. Is that Golden Seal in the second picture from the top? Your country side looks so fresh and green. We're drying up and blowing away here.

  5. Valerianna - oh how I'm envious of your lilacs. It is too hot for them to flourish here.

  8. WOL - The yellow flower is yarrow I believe. This was cultivated in my local park, although it likely grows wild too. We've had tornadoes and lots of rain in the last month, so it is very lush and green.

  10. Looks like Blogger ate my comment - It has been misbehaving of late. Is that second picture from the top goldenseal? Love the little blue bird.

  12. WOL. I think blogger "ate" a lot of comments!!! That second photo is goldenseal - I only know that because the park planted them and have little placards to identify. It likely grows wild here too. And thank you for stopping by:)

  14. Aaron Paul - It is called a Blue Bird and you are right about the "he" as well. The males are more colorful and have a little flame-tinted chest. Thought it was adorable and someone told me they are supposed to bring one luck!

  20. Tricia - this park is named after a white doe and there are supposed to be more of them in the area. I will continue my quest to see one. How cool would that be? In the meantime, I'll always share the gifts of mother nature.

  21. The flowers are so lovely. What a gorgeous park! It makes me a tad homesick, as I now live in the prairies and there really isn't anything like that here! Thank you for sharing the photos.

  23. Well, Blogger is being difficult but I will try again. These are wonderful photos. I am addicted to photos of mysterious forests, and you have a couple of great ones here. What is the blue bird? Is it an indigo bunting? We don't have them here.

  24. Julie - indeed Blogger has been "now you see it, now you don't" with comments:)

Thank you! On this particular day, I went out late and the light was just magical. That little bird is simply a "Blue Bird" - this one a male, more colorful than the females. If we have Indigo Buntings, I'd guess they are very rare to spot.
